Education in Indore: Landscape, Scenario and Scope
Indore is a city in west-central India. Known as the Commercial Capital of Madhya Pradesh, Indore was the capital of the Holkars. The largest and most densely populated city in central India, the city is popular for its history, monuments, food and bazaars. It is also known for the 7-storied Rajwada Palace and the Lal Baag Palace, which date back to Indore’s 19th-century Holkar dynasty. Indore is also one of the cleanest cities of India. The city is growing at a fast pace, but still manages to combine ancient and modern lifestyles in a unique atmosphere.
Indore is home to educational institutions ranging from pre-primary through to post-graduate studies. Formal education in Indore comes under the administrative control of Ministry of Education of the Government of Karnataka. Children get enrolled in formal schools at the age of 5. Indore follows 10 2 3/4 system of Education. Broadly speaking, Indore has three types of educational institutions; Government, Private and Semi-Government. In 2009 Indore became the first city in India to house both an Indian Institute of Management and an Indian Institute of Technology.
